The legal terms governing how, where, and for how long a brand may use content produced by a creator.
Usage rights are the most-misunderstood part of an influencer contract. They define: which channels the brand may publish the content on (organic social only? paid ads? website? out-of-home?), the duration the content can be used (60 days, 1 year, perpetual?), territory restrictions (EU only? worldwide?), and exclusivity terms (can the creator work with competitors during this window?).
A typical UGC delivery includes 12-month organic + paid usage rights on the brand’s social channels, with whitelisting (running ads on the creator’s handle) sold separately. Perpetual rights and OOH usage are premium add-ons. The default on most marketplaces if not specified is narrow — usually "organic only on commissioning brand’s feed, 90 days" — so brands should always read the booking terms carefully.
Brands and creators should explicitly agree on usage rights at booking time — Collabios encourages spelling these out in the brief alongside the deliverable count and revisions, so neither side discovers a mismatch after delivery.
