Synonymous with product seeding — sending free product to creators without a posting requirement.

Gifting and product seeding are used interchangeably in the industry. The shared mechanic: brand ships a product sample to the creator, no posting obligation. The creator decides whether to feature it. The term "gifting" tends to be used in the beauty and fashion verticals; "seeding" tends to be used in tech and consumer goods.

Whether to gift, pay flat-fee, or do both depends on the campaign goal. Gifting alone is hardest to scale because the conversion-to-post rate is unpredictable. Combining gifting with a follow-up paid booking ("brands we gifted to who liked the product") consistently produces higher-quality content.
