Briefing

The document a brand sends a creator before content production outlining requirements, do’s, and don’ts.

A campaign brief turns a brand’s creative direction into clear instructions for the creator. Key sections: campaign objective, deliverable type and count, key messages to include, brand voice/tone notes, mandatory mentions (hashtags, handles, links), content do’s and don’ts, approval process, deadline.

Briefs that are too prescriptive often backfire — they remove the authentic creator voice that made the partnership worthwhile in the first place. Best-in-class briefs give the creator the goal and the boundaries, and trust their judgment on the execution.
